The Decline of the British Pub
28/10/2008 22:36:00
My brother and I popped out for nice pint or two and were shocked to be met at the door of one of our locals with a rather scary sign.
It read the following: "I'm afraid we don't allow babies or children under 10 in the pub or garden. However we welcome children over 10 before 6pm in the conservatory and garden when accompanied by an adult. Also, please No stag or hen parties or fancy dress or pub crawls."
By this point we did not feel particularly welcome and we had been for a pint in another local establishment which probably constituted a pub crawl. In any case we decided to go elsewhere in case they had banned the sale of beer too and another sign inside stated: "No relaxing and please constrain yourselves to the most conservative of British social stereotypes".

Also note that babies over 10 are welcome, Briff.
So babies in the conservatory is ok any time - unless they're on a pub crawl.
Perhaps you could have an assebly line themed pub where you got your drinks off a conveyer belt and had to sit quietly at a bench finishing your drink in under 15mins with no time allowed for a toilet break!
What is the world coming to when you can't take your children drinking in a conservatory on a fancy dress pub crawl?
How are we supposed teach our children what it means to be British?
